DFS players getting things done

It’s been a big few months for many DFS players, with dozens representing their leagues in rep games, several being chosen to represent Victoria in the School Sport Australia champs later this year, and one young superstar making the 2016 World Team. We congratulate all players and look forward to seeing you all back for the 2016 Elite Summer Training Program.

 MARLYN MAKES HIS MOVE

Perhaps the most impressive achievement comes from Marlyn Staunton, who was selected for the 2016 World Team following outstanding performances at the 2016 AFL National Diversity Championships. Marlyn (pictured at bottom of page with Hamish McIntosh) was a standout at our Elite Summer Training Program and continued that form into his local season before captaining the Victorian Diversity team to the Grand Final.
The former Gaelic footballer, who moved to Australia from Ireland only two years ago, will head to the Gold Coast in July to represent the World Under-16 team in the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships.

4 YOUNG GUNS TO WEAR THE BIG V

Four young men who have participated in DFS programs will fly the flag for Victoria in Maroochydore next month. Dane Harvey and Carlos Harvey have been selected in the School Sport Victoria Australian Football 12 Years and Under Team, while Lucas Perry and Ned Cahill will both play in the 15 years and Under Team.

DFS DOMINATE REP GAMES

Dozens of DFS players have represented their leagues in representative matches around Victoria in recent weeks, with more than a few DFS coaches also participating.
The 2016 AFL Victoria Junior Metro Championships are the pinnacle of representative footy for many young superstars, and we were super proud of all DFS players who took part. A special shout-out to Seb Fernandez and Sam House, who were appointed vice captain for the Eastern Football League and Northern Football League respectively. Both boys have already committed to the upcoming Elite Senior Camp over the upcoming holidays. Three DFS coaches (JC, Dazz and Joel) were head coaches during the champs, with Pottsy, Bails and Kieran also having significant roles.
The AFL Victoria Dandenong 2016 Junior Carnival was held over the past week, with many familiar DFS faces running out for their respective leagues. Players such as Hugo Nosiara, Cade Tauber, Zac Holton, Ethan Mills and Luca Goonan have been regular faces at many DFS programs such as the Elite Senior Camp, School Holiday Program and Elite Summer Training Program.
