Support Adam Veli

“You can be a victim of cancer, or a survivor of cancer. It’s a mindset.”
There is no easy way to say this. Nor a simple method to explain it to thousands of young DFS kids that personally know him. Our much esteemed, loved and popular Coach, Adam Veli, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
It was obviously a shock to us all, but the way Adam has carried himself during the past 4 weeks is nothing short of remarkable. Yes, Adam has a fight on his hands, however his general nature of positivity and optimism is also underpinned by a strong willed resilience. He could be excused for detaching himself from the world, to fight this battle alone. But that is not his style nor his intention. Yes, he will fight this with the support of his family and friends, however this battle has also fuelled one of his strongest passions – ‘ The benefits of physical activity’. Please read on.
As the DFS community is aware, Adam is not only a DFS skills coach, he is also the Head of DFS Strength & Conditioning. He is passionate about physical activity and the benefits it can have for kids and adults. He lives it. He loves it. He breathes it. Adam has designed and delivered programs for thousands of kids and adults via DFS and his own business, the AV High Performance Academy. He has always put other people first, to help them become the best they can be. Now it is time we can help him, with his cause.
As Adam will be off his feet for some time, he has had to postpone several of his working roles, within the Strength & Conditioning field. To help, a gofundme page has been established.
HOWEVER, this is where Adam’s selflessness and genuine care comes to the fore.
It took much convincing to allow the page to be established – but Adam refused to be the recipient of all the donations. It is just the kind of guy he is. Adam has decided that he will donate 50% of the funds raised to the research of exercise as a medicine for cancer. Not only does he strongly believe in the positive benefits of physical activity, he wants support its research too.
Adam has agreed to keep the DFS community up to date with his progress. Attached is a picture of his recent catch-up with DFS Director of Coaching Adrian Talarico and DFS/AVHPA coaches Michael Talbot and Daniel Valeri.
Adam is a fighter. His passions drive him. We can support both.
