Another Australian School Sports National Championships has ended and DFS’ list of State Representatives grows once again with Anthony Camnitti and Romy Dagostino continuing the proud tradition.
Anthony Camitti played a vital role for the Victorian 12 and under side, which went through the event undefeated.
Romy Dagostino, from the Langwarrin Junior Football Club, became our first female representative at state level, as the youngest player in the 16 and under side.

Everyone at DFS was also proud to see Bailey Schultz, from the Calder Cannons YG Academy, star for the undefeated Victorian team that took out the Australian Football Schoolgirls Championships (16 years and under).
The good news didn’t stop there, with DFS regular Joel ‘Stretch’ Grace was a key member of the Under 16 Vic Metro team throughout the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships held on the Gold Coast.
He played well in front of the game’s elite talent scouts, hopefully signalling himself as one for the future.
In the past four years, 15 DFS players have pulled on the Big V jumper making everyone involved at Dynamic Footy Skills enormously proud and we look forward to working with them in future programs.
Junior Skills MasterClass Series kicks off in style
Dynamic Footy Skills successfully launched its 2015 Junior Skills MasterClass Series on Saturday the 2nd May at Loyola College, in Bundoora.
More than 70 budding superstars from the Northern Football League and Yarra Junior Football League had the chance to develop their skills throughout the three-hour session.
As the premier skills development provider in Australia, DFS runs the MasterClass Series as a way to give back to the local community, as well as strengthen its ties with junior clubs.
The participants, from the Under 10, Under 11 and Under 12 age groups, certainly grasped the opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and skill.
Some of the happy participants
“The boys that we sent down absolutely loved it, thanks for a great morning” said Whittlesea President Mick Heyfron.
Young players who were committed to improving and fine-tuning their footy skills gained invaluable experience from coaches who have been through the AFL, VFL, TAC Cup and interleague systems.
There were also some familiar faces on hand for the kids to look up to with two Under 16 TAC Cup Rep players lending their knowledge and helping out as umpires too.
The program focused on sculpting the players’ kicking, handballing and marking technique, as well as honing in on the crucial physical aspects of tackling and body positioning.
26 different clubs were represented, which also offered the kids a chance to meet like-minded peers and learn through one another.
“We’ve had positive comments about how well the program is running and how attentive the kids are,” DFS coach Steve Musico said.
“We have got a wide variety of kids from Heidelberg all the way to Wallan, so it has been good for them to mix socially as well.”
The players trained according to age group before putting together what they had learned in a series of round-robin matches.
“Teaching the kids to apply the skills they learnt directly to a match situation is so important and something I really like about the MasterClass program,” parent Dave Hatzis said.
“Acquiring the technique is one thing but it’s knowing when and how to use it during a match that is the end goal, and the kids get that here.”
The players weren’t the only ones learning and enjoying themselves. The coaches and parents were also delighted and pleasantly surprised with how the kids went about it.
“The capacity of the kids to learn and the level of focus when they put their mind to something never ceases to amaze me,” DFS coaching director Adrian Talarico said.
“Their attitude has been first rate and I am confident that they have all gone away from today with the rewards.”
The DFS MasterClass Series will continue to be held at varying locations around Melbourne during the entire 2015 football season, with Kew, Essendon, Mt Martha, Burwood, Casey Fields and Sunbury all on the hit list.
The Elite Camp would not have been the raging success that it was without the crucial support of the wonderful Player Sponsors that came on board. Held on Saturday mornings at various locations across Melbourne, you can benefit from access to coaches who have experience at AFL, VFL, TAC Cup and interleague levels.
By training with other like-minded talented participants, the three-hour sessions will provide a constant challenge and journey to improvement.
Getting the basics right and working in more advanced scenarios, participants are given the knowledge and opportunity to improve all areas of their footy.
Whether it’s hitting targets by foot and hand, winning contested possessions or tackling technique, there will be a Skills Masterclass for each aspect of the game.
Participants can take all that knowledge into a competitive environment with round-robin games to finish off the day.
To be eligible for the DFS masterclass program, players need to be nominated by either their club coach or their club President.
Over 100 junior players from the NFL, YJFL and Mount Eliza junior Football Club enjoyed DFS school holiday programs held during the last holiday period.
Held over four days and at three different locations, aplayers were placed in age groups and spent enitre day(s) working on their footy skills.
Despite the early arrival of the drizzly footy weather at Bulleen & Bundoora, all participants enjoyed the early season chance to get out on the footy field.
The younger tackers, from under 9-10 groups participated in learn through fun footy activities and other skills drills.
While the older ages under 11s and up to under 14s tested themselves with some AFL-styled Draft Combine Fitness Testing and other skills development drills.
All players worked with our elite junior coaches – the older age groups were mentored by TAC Cup and Rep level experienced coaches.
They also received some invaluable advice from the likes of Richmond’s new draftee Ben Lennon, who visited the Bulleen program and Carlton’s David Ellard, who visited the the Bundoora program.
If you’re looking forward to the next holiday programs or you missed out last time, bookings have already openend. Follow the link to the booking page —–> http://bit.ly/S5eaRe
